Current
Application
The
significant level of growth for Crossfit has also subsequently extended to
adaptations for use by a range of teams within the sports arena, at both
college and high school levels (Paine et al,
2010). Currently, five varying adaptations of the concept exist forming
a procedure known to the mainstream as the Crossfit method, which incorporates
routines for use, by combat athletes kids, seniors and military personnel
operating in the context of austere environments. Two additional programs
“Elements of Crossfit” and “Boot Camp” also exist for application in gyms (Paine et al, 2010). The concept incorporates
these programs to fulfill the aim of introducing beginners to Crossfit. The
year 2007 saw the United States Marine Corps shift from the conventional nature
of their training regimen, which involves routines such as distance running to Crossfit-oriented
model. A significant majority of police, military, and fire departments in the
United States and Canada are embracing the shift from conventional forms of
physical fitness training programs by incorporating the Crossfit model into
them. Having come a long way, the growth of this program has subsequently led
to the creation of shifts that have proven effective in the arena of physical
fitness (Paine et al., 2010).
Operational
Model
The
year 2001 saw founder launch crossfit.com, the website with the aim of
spreading the word concerning his program, thus igniting its availability in a
number of cities across the United States and beyond. Currently the running of
this program operates on both community and open source models, which have been
significant in providing a crucial platform for the worldwide growth of this
program (Glassman, 2007). A Significant
majority of the program’s intellectual property owe their roots to the website.
The program’s founder also went several steps further to engage in the
formation of affiliate websites as part of his marketing plan, which he devised
to effect increases in the level of popularity for the program. As opposed to
the typical operational model of most internet marketing plans, Glassman’s
marketing campaign provides room for diversity through the differentiation of
websites to incorporate uniqueness and rejection of conventional franchise
models (Glassman, 2007). This model also
requires very little in terms start-up resources.
In
Canada, the program receives widespread acclaim as one of the most popular and
fastest growing health and fitness programs on a worldwide level. The
uniqueness of this method also draws inspiration from its participation
requirements, which do not require gym membership or attendance for
participation eligibility (Glassman, 2007).
One of the most notably negative factors about this program is its
significantly higher dropout levels, which currently stand at eighty percent.
Despite the presence of this alarming factor, Glassman still feels that the
components he offers within this program are far better in comparison to the
components that typical health and fitness clubs usually offer. He attributes
the advantages of this program in terms of higher application rates and its
unique preparation of individuals for a range of physical fitness challenges as
vital aspects that place it at significant advantage over conventional fitness
programs (Glassman, 2007).
Significant
majorities of the workouts that this concept incorporates bear feminine names
and receive widespread consideration as the standard workouts, having
integrated the design and structure for testing and retesting the performance
of participants, for the measurement of progress levels to their fitness (Johnson, 2005). The earlier list of feminine
workouts is inclusive of names such as Elizabeth, Angie, Fran, Diane, Chelsea
and Barbara. These names are representative of Glassman’s earlier forms of
exercises referred to as the Crossfit breathers. On e of the main objectives
for these workouts, receiving these names was to facilitate easy remembrance,
as opposed to the burden of re-explaining every component each time an exercise
received mention (Johnson, 2005). The
year 2007 saw Crossfit its first competition called Crossfit games, which
comprised of seventy athletes. The grand prize for the winner of this
competition totaled five hundred dollars and by the year 2012, this competition
had grown to incorporate around seventy thousand athletes, with the grand prize
totaling to two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Crossfit has grown to
exponential levels since its inception and has significantly influenced the
fitness world to the level of movie starts and professional athletes constantly
highlighting their love for it on television and social media (Johnson, 2005). This growth has subsequently
extended to the making of a television show in the United States, called The Biggest Loser (Johnson, 2005).
History and Evolution
Although the concept of crossfit
training is relatively new in the world of sport, its historical roots have
traces from as far back as the 1990s. Through its founder Greg Glassman, the
sport has ultimately evolved from simple roots to the implementation of
conditioning and strength programs. The sport began with the opening of
Glassman’s first gym within the locality of Santa Cruz California, where he
earned a contract to train members of the Santa Cruz Police Department (Sullivan,
2013). Prior to this endeavor Greg Glassman had long held the desire for
well-rounded athleticism and strength in his gymnastic activities. One of the
major motivators for Glassman’s inspiration was a tendency that he noticed in a
majority of athletes he encountered during the initial days of the sport. While
a majority of athletes highlighted a considerable of expertise, their level of
expertise only extended to a minimum of a single expert ability and a maximum
of two expert abilities (Sullivan, 2013). The implication for this factor was
that athletes highlighted a considerable level of lack in terms of general
comprehensive fitness. These apparently expert levels of fitness had arrived
with the athletes paying a dear price. This subsequently resulted in the “jack
of all trades, master of none” procedure of methodology that commonly
characterizes the concept of crossfit training. As opposed to maintaining a
focus on single fitness adaptations like power or strength, crossfit training
endeavors the achievement of greater levels of work capacity over a range of
broader modal domains and periods (Sullivan, 2013). From another perspective,
the workouts within the regimens of crossfit effectively punish the
participant, with the aim of achieving broader and general levels of
all-inclusive fitness. The procedure ultimately lays an emphasis on the attainment
of ten vital physical fitness qualities. These qualities include stamina,
strength, endurance cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, accuracy,
balance, coordination agility flexibility and speed. These qualities draw their
roots from Bruce Evans and Jim Crawley, the brains behind the manufacture of
particular medicine balls called Dynamax. The development of these skills
incorporates a range of movement routines from an array of various disciplines,
with implementation adopting a significantly high intensity. The establishment of Crossfit as a
company occurred in the year 2000. This establishment resulted in the evolution
of a fitness community, which derives inspiration from the friendly nature of
the competitions that the sport embraces in the fostering of camaraderie in
small groups and the internet. Currently Crossfit covers the whole world
through internet networks and comprises of around thirty four thousand
affiliates. The revolution of this sport concept has resulted in collaborations
occurring between crossfit embracers, who hold the commitment to the goal
effecting improvements in their health, overall wellness and fitness levels. Right
from its onset, this concept has maintained clear definitions and
differentiations of it fitness ideologies through the creation of workouts that
aim at eliciting feelings of association with competitive activities. A
combination of this factor with a clarified emphasis on functionality in
movement routines that aim at effecting improvements in the quality of fitness
lifestyles has subsequently served as beneficial to millions of athletes,
responders, military personnel and fighters in equal measure.
Crossfit
Training
Overview
Crossfit training refers to an intense exercise regimen that features a range of dynamic exercises such as Olympic lifts and plyometric jumps. This regimen makes use non-conventional weight lifting materials like suspension systems, water-filled implements and sandbags among others and employs a structure that dynamically challenges participants to perform a particular number of repetitions within certain timeframes (McCall, 2010). Crossfit training at advanced levels involves competition between participants in an effort at determining completion rates for daily workouts. Based of the extreme intensity and its explosive effect on muscle action, crossfit training workouts have a range of benefits for both professional athletes and average exercise devotees, although these benefits also come with associated increases in the level of injury risk, especially if participants fail to follow the required procedure. Prior to embarking on a crossfit training regimen, there are requirements for participants to learn the correct performance of the required movements (McCall, 2010).

Famous Pianists
Scott Joplin
Joplin was an African-American composer and pianist. He has achieved his fame by his famous ragtime compositions, in fact, he was titled “The King of Ragtime.” He has written 44 original ragtime scores over his short career. Joplin was born in in Northeast Texas with a musical family of laborers. He developed his musical knowledge with the help of local teachers. He has formed a vocal quartet, and taught mandolin and guitar. At the late 1880s, he left his laborer with the railroad life and travelled around the American South as an itinerant musician.
Joplin was born into a musical family of laborers in Northeast Texas, and developed his musical knowledge with the help of local teachers, most notably Julius Weiss. Joplin grew up in Texarkana, where he formed a vocal quartet, and taught mandolin and guitar. During the late 1880s he left his job as a laborer with the railroad, and travelled around the American South as an itinerant musician. He went to Chicago for the World's Fair of 1893, which played a major part in making ragtime a national craze by 1897. Joplin’s skills as a piano player were described in glowing terms by a Sedalia newspaper in 1898, and other ragtime composers said that Scott played the piano well. But the son of the publisher said that Joplin was of a mediocre level and he composed on paper, not on the piano. There are no recordings of Joplin’s playing, all his scores were preserved on seven piano rolls that then were played by a mechanical piano.
Krystian Beirnstein
Krystian Zimerman was born n December 5th, 1956, is a Polish classical pianist who has been hailed as one of the finest living pianists. Zimerman studied at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice under Andrzej JasiĆski. He first started in 1975 when he won Warsaw International Chopin Piano Competition. He tours widely and made many albums. Zimerman has been teaching the piano at the Academy of Music in Basel since 1996 in Switzerland where he lives with his wife and 2 children. Krystian vowed, on April the 26th of 2009, to the audience at Los Angeles's Walt Disney Concert Hall that he is completely against the placement of a missile defense shield in Poland. He stated that he will not return to the United States of America until George W. Bush is out of office. Another part of his disenchantment with the US is their increase security at their airports, where more than once, his Steinway pianos were completely destroyed or damaged by security because of the smell of the glue used to glue the piano. Zimerman is an expert piano builder, and ever since these incidents, he decided to travel with unassembled piano pieces which he would put together after landing and going through security.
Piano Types
Grand Piano
The piano has been invented a very long time ago, so it was bound to create other types of pianos. The piano was first invented with a great and large interior. This is named the Grand Piano, it is more than 2 meters long, and 154cm of width. The larger the piano, the longer the strings, the louder the sound and better acoustics. Of course, the larger the piano, the more expensive it gets. Excluding brands name extreme prices, the grand piano averagely costs around 150,000 DHS. But the better quality, the higher the price. The grand piano can go up to 1 or 2 million DHS. There is brand of grand pianos, Schimmel, that cost 5,000,000 DHS, that is because these pianos have electronic features, and that it is made of the best materials.
Upright Piano
Upright pianos, or “vertical pianos” are more compact and take much less space than grand pianos. They are called Vertical Pianos because their frames and strings are vertical. The hammer that moves by pressing a key moves horizontally and returns to it’s position by springs. If the upright piano’s frame is tall, it is considered to be an upright grand piano. Studio pianos are 42 to 45 inches tall, this is considered to be the shortest cabinet that can withholds a full-sized action based above the keyboard. Console pianos have the strings’ system compacted, making the hammer shorter. These are shorter than the studio pianos. Anything taller than a studio piano is called an upright piano.
Player Piano
Player pianos are truly fascinating. Player pianos are pianos that play by themselves by using a piano roll. There is a machine that perforates one’s performance’s recording and saves it into a rolls of paper, and then the player piano can replay any performance by using a pneumatic device and display a sheer solo bravura of pure music entertainment. Recently, a new piano manufacturer’s company, Galaxy Pianos, has improved the player piano, and has built a piano that reads digital songs and converts any song into a piano piece.
Other Types
There are many other types of pianos. Such as the toy piano, which is very small and is for children. A silent piano, which goes completely mute for private practice matters. One of my favorite pianos is the Transposing Piano, created in 1801, because you can play in the key you prefer, but it will play sounds of a different key. Other types of pianos are the Digital Piano, Electric Piano, Prepared Piano, and the Mini Piano.
The Piano
The piano is a string instrument played by a variety of octaves by using a keyboard with 88 (sometimes 81) keys. The piano is widely used in classical music for solo performances, and most popular for composing and rehearsal. The piano is a large music instrument, thus making it not portable it is very expensive, but the piano’s versatility and ease of use made it one of the world’s most well known instrument. The way a piano works is if one presses a key, the piano’s keyboard causes a padded hammer to trike a steel string. The hammer rebounds and the string continues to vibrate, with each string having it’s own different frequency, giving us a wide number of different sounds. The harder you press, the louder the sound becomes, and the longer you keep pressing, the longer the duration of the sound. There are three piddles for the piano, each has a different role
History
The piano was founded earlier The first string instruments with struck strings were the hammered dulcimers. There has been many attempts at creating stringed keyboard instruments during the Middle Ages, like the Clavichord. Bartolommeo Cristofori (1655-1731) is considered to be the inventor of the modern piano. Cristofori is from Padua, Italy, and he was employed by Ferdinando de’ Medici, Grand Prince of Tuscany. He was hired as the “Keeper of the Instruments”. Bartolommeo was an expert in making Harpsichords, as well as being an expert with the body of knowledge on stringed keyboard instruments. The exact creation date of the piano is not known precisely. The family Bartolommeo lived with state that the piano was invented in the year 1700, but some documents are more specific with details and say that the date of the creation of this instrument was of 1698. There are three Cristofori pianos that still live till this day, and they date back from the 1720s.
